For a few lucky ones, this is the time to take a little vacation and get a break from the heat…the rest of us have to wait it out.
For 2019, the first day of Fall is September 23rd. What does the weather look like? According to weather.com, it will be in the 90’s for the next couple of weeks. If the forecast stays true, we will catch a break and finally see some Fall weather by the end of September.
Well, those of us who have lived here for a while know that it doesn’t really start to cool down until after Halloween, sometimes not even until Thanksgiving. Then again, there have been times when we get an ice storm in the middle of Fall! Texas weather is so unpredictable.
By now, I hope you have had your air conditioning system serviced, tweaked or replaced to withstand this last stretch of Summer… soon it will be time to test out your heating system. It’s always a good idea to stay ahead of the game and have a professional check it out before you need it.
Here is a short checklist on how to prepare:
- Inspect Rooftop AC Units and Vents
- Clean Around Outdoor Units
- Turn on/Test Each Heater
- Check Heat Exchangers for Leaks
- Take Care of Insulation Issues Now
- Upgrade Insulation Material
- Check Pipe Insulation
- Have Chimneys Cleaned
Your best bet is to call a professional and let them test everything out to be on the safe side.
